About This Test
The Story of Ayumu the Chimpanzee
This test is based on a famous experiment conducted at Kyoto University's Primate Research Institute. A young chimpanzee named Ayumu shocked the world by memorizing the positions of numbers 1-9 on a screen in less than 60 milliseconds—faster than the blink of a human eye.
Working Memory vs. Eidetic Memory
The Chimp Test challenges your working memory and iconic memory (visual sensory memory). While humans generally outperform chimpanzees in language and complex reasoning, some primates appear to have superior immediate visual recall.
